Frame Your Memories Yourself

Frame Your Memories YourselfPicture frames are present in almost every single home interior decor.

They both complete the home decor design and keep your favorite memories and faces in front of you.

If you are planning a design for home all by yourself, here’s a little help you might need when making frames. Nothing too complicated. It’s actually very simple; you can use almost anything that comes to your mind.

First, choose a hard material that is going to hold the picture.

You can use wood. It will require a little hard work, and you’ll need wood cutting and carving tools. If you have them in your shed, put them into use, as it will be of better quality and will last long.

There’s also another option — making the frame out of cardboard paper although the quality isn’t guaranteed in this case.

You’ll need a a silicone gun to seal both the paper and the wood. Those guns contain little silicone tubes that melt when the gun is heated. After you apply the glue, make sure you hold the parts together until they stick to each other.

You are now done with the boring part and now we move on to the fun part. Now let’s think about several DIY decor ideas you can make use of.

  • You can use fabric. Choose a nice pattern or make the pattern yourself on a plain piece of fabric. You can draw on it with watercolor paint or gouache.
  • You can also do some needlework. If you have a wooden frame, you can attach the fabric to it with nails or use the silicone gun.
  • You can attach colorful decorative stones to the wood or the paper. For a more “oceanic” effect, glue shells and sea stones on the frame.
  • Another idea is to make a frame out of a book. Buy a diary and glue the pages, then cut a square inside the pages (just like in the movies when they store something in a book). You can even burn the ends of the pages to make it seem that they’re ancient.
  • Make two frames — the second one should be the continuation of the first one. They’ll look like pieces of a broken frame. You can put these frames up on the angled wall, one on each side, like they’re folded.
