Balcony: Let The Flowers Climb
If your house has a big balcony, you’re a lucky person. It is the only place where you can sit inside and enjoy the outside.
Everyone would like to have the most beautiful balcony in the building. And what makes the balcony beautiful? Climbing flowers, of course.
- You can have some gorgeous wisteria hanging all over the ceiling and along the balcony railings. But as it isn’t a balcony plant, you might want to plant it in the garden underneath and then support the branches towards your balcony. They’ll look fantastic when they bloom.
- Climbing hydrangea is another plant that will look great in your balcony. They usually are white, but some species can be blue, red, pink or purple. But you should be very careful as hydrangea attracts a lot of bees and butterflies. You can plant it in a container, and if it has enough support it can grow up to 50-80 feet.
- If you live in a state with cool or warm climate, Canterbury Bells will grow in your balcony very well. Their blooming lasts very long, and the flowers come in blue, purple and white. They can grow up to two-three feet high.
- Climbing Nasturtiums are one of my favorite choices for balconies. They can be red, yellow and orange, and they need support to climb. A great advantage of Climbing Nasturtiums is that they do very well in poor soil (which is what you’ll most probably have in the balcony). Their height can reach up to six feet.
- If you want to grow some plants in the containers, Sedum will be a very good option for you. It’s very popular in the balconies, as it can survive even very cold weather. They come in different colors like red or yellow. Choose an eye-popping color and match it with the color of your balcony interior design. Non-gardeners will love this plants as it’s not only easy to take care of, but also very difficult to kill.
These are the most popular flowers that people grow in their balconies. All of them are very gorgeous and will look wonderful if you take a proper care of them.
You can also gain a wonderful effect with modern outdoor lighting. Put little colorful solar lights in the plants pots. At nights it will look like there are fairies living in the flowers and will make you the owner of the best balcony in the building.
If you spend some time on its decoration and add basic conveniences, it’ll be a perfect place to rest after work, read a newspaper with a cup of coffee in the morning or have a calm family dinner in the evening.
