A Fountain-garden: Taking Care
As I already said in my previous post, a “fountain-garden” may be the centerpiece of your yard.
Lotuses and water lilies are great for growing in a fountain, but besides the planting, you will have to take care of your flowers and follow some basic tips.
When the plants are fully grown, they are undoubtedly going to look gorgeous. You just have to be very caring and attentive towards them if you want to keep them looking incredible.
- First of all, make sure there is no fungus on the plant when you move it into the water or the root will rot.
- The “fountain-garden” sounds really exciting, but you should realize that there is a high possibility that moss and mildew will grow in your fountain along with the flowers. You might never be able to completely clean the fountain. The best solution would be to put the plants into pots, and only then place those pots into the fountain.
- Try to be very gentle and don’t damage the roots while moving them into the pots.
- You should also cover the soil with stones to keep it in the pot.
- Always be attentive not to let the plant roots grow into the pump of the fountain. Otherwise you might lose not only the plant, but also the expensive fountain.
- Make sure the leaves or the branches don’t grow out of the fountain and hang down. This might cause a little trouble with the water dripping on the floor. You probably wouldn’t want to clean that mess daily.
Ask yourself if you think it is worth getting a “fountain-garden,” constantly taking care of it and spending so much time on it. If answer is yes, then your garden will undoubtedly have the most unique and extraordinary outdoor garden decor in the whole neighborhood.
