Why Teflon Coatings?

Why Teflon Coatings?First of all let us have a clear idea what is teflon. Teflon is a productive, durable and wear resistant coatings material.

Teflon can be used to coat piston rings, cylinder liners, cam shafts, valves, tappets and so forth. Apart from this, cooking utensils can also be coated with teflon. For example, I always consider teflon coatings for my kitchen utensils, and to tell the true, they meet my expectations. Teflon coatings are resistant to any corrosion as a result of which my kitchen utensils have a long life span.

The application of teflon coatings is significant in industries. Teflon industrial coatings are applied on carbon, steel, aluminum, brass, magnesium, glass and plastics.

Due to their non-adhesive property, teflon coatings are also perfect for food applications. Most bakeries as well as pie and cookie factories, rely on teflon coatings. Teflon coatings are approved for food processing since they prove to be hygienic.

There are seven basic  types of teflon coating, namely teflon PFA, teflon SF, teflon ETFE, teflon FEP and so forth.

Teflon coatings offer a vast number of advantages. They are non-adhesive, eco-friendly, corrosion-resistant and versatile. Merely alkali metals influence teflon industrial coatings.

In general, Teflon industrial coatings display a high resistance to rough temperatures. Indeed they may resist temperatures even below 270°C.

Surfaces coated with teflon will hardly get wet. However, it would be reasonable to roughen the surface before applying teflon on surfaces.
