Your Bedroom Inside The Roof

Your Bedroom Inside The RoofHaving a bedroom inside the roof has always been my dream. It always sounded great to have a place where you can touch the ceiling. This bedroom idea seems to create a special and inspiring atmosphere.

Your bedroom can serve as a place where you can stay alone for some time or have your friends over and make as much noise as you want, without disturbing anyone else in the house.

During our recent home improvement, I decided to use my own imagination and time to convert our roof, which used to serve as a storage for all kinds of junk, into a nice and comfortable bedroom of my dreams.

  • The first trouble was with the walls.  I wanted it to look like one of those contemporary bedrooms I‘ve seen in Home Interior magazines. So the color should be be a very relaxing one. In the end I chose  peach yellow in combination with mauve taupe for the walls.  I wanted to have striped walls, but after realizing that it requires some skills to paint them neatly, I decided to paint two walls completely with peach yellow and the other two with mauve taupe.
  • I decided that the angled part of the wall, which is the roof ceiling, should be painted with mauve taupe, although the ceiling is peach-colored. I’ve also put lots of phosphorus star stickers on it.
  • The pillow-end of my bed is facing the angled ceiling. This way I don’t hit my head every morning. And when I go to bed at nights, the peach yellow color with the star stickers, which start to glow in the dark, seem like an open air sky. In the mornings the sunshine falls from the windows and the colors make the room look very warm — just what you need to wake up.
  • If you put the bed under the spot where the two angled walls meet (the top of the roof), you can use this detail to have home decor curtains in oriental style. This can be a very interesting and unique bedroom idea. You’ll have to get oriental styled furniture as well and there you go, you have a bedroom right from a fairy-tale.
  • The shelves that hold the books and all the souvenirs are on the rest of the angled wall.
  • Don’t place your bed under the window. Otherwise when the sun rises, the bright sunshine will fall right on your eyes, which is not one of the best ways to wake up in the mornings, especially if you are in the middle of a fantastic dream.
  • The working desk is right in front of the window to let sunshine fall right onto it.
  • For luxury baths and bathroom sinks and vanities you’ll need to do some serious reconstruction work, and if you don’t feel you can do it properly or will have to call a specialist, which costs a lot, you can just use the bathroom on the top floor and not install one in the attic.

Of course, your dad or your brother should give you a hand in this. After all, DIY remodeling is not an easy task. But the best thing is that I know every single inch of my room, because I made it myself. And that’s what’s called a home.
