Energy Efficient Heaters
Winter temperatures can get very cold and frigid if you don’t have proper heating in your home or office. Central heating is expensive to install and not energy efficient, so thankfully there are other types of heaters you can invest in, to keep you warm when it’s chilly.
There are various types and designs of heaters available today; electric heaters, propane heaters, natural gas heaters, heaters that are portable, recessed into the wall or made for the outdoors. Here are some of the varieties of heaters in detail:
Space Heaters – Space heaters are compact and very energy efficient because they only heat up the area that needs to be heated. Some high output space heaters can heat up to 1,250 sq. feet. When choosing a heater you should have a 10-to-1 ratio of wattage to square feet of room/area you would like to heat. While electric space heaters are safe to use, propane and kerosene heaters can pose greater risks. The great thing about space heaters is that they are portable, so you can use it in your office during the day, move it to your living room during the evening, and then keep your bedroom warm at night.
Wall Heaters – Wall heaters are ideal for maximizing heat in a given area while reducing the amount of energy used. Wall heaters can be mounted directly on the wall surface or recessed into the wall, so they save space and provide efficient heat discretely in bathrooms, kitchens, hallways and foyers. You can purchase electric, propane or natural gas wall heaters, but electric wall heaters are more convenient and popular.
Patio Heaters – Patio heaters are perfect for use on patios or open-air settings when it’s cold outside. You can purchase a large patio heater ideal for heating a large radius, a portable table top patio heater, or a wall mounted patio heater. Patio heaters can be fueled with propane, oil, natural gas, or run on electricity. Electric, or halogen, patio heaters are the most energy efficient out of the four and do not produce UV rays, harmful emissions or toxic residuals. There are three power levels based on their heat output; regular power level produces 10,000 – 20,000 BTUs, high power level produces 21,000 – 39,000 BTUs, and turbo power level produces 40,000 – 50,000 BTUs. Consider your usage and heat radius you would like when deciding on which patio heater to buy.
There are plenty of options for heaters for your home this winter. You can choose one per your need, style and budget. Get an energy efficient and effective heater this winter and enjoy the cold weather to the fullest.
